The Redis R&D Core unit is looking for a team leader to lead the Redis Geo Distributed Database Team, also known as CRDT.
This team implements Redis’ Active-Active solution which uses the CRDT concept to implement strong eventual consistency between remote copies of the same database.

Why would you love this job?

As a member of the core unit, you will be responsible for the software behind the fastest NoSQL clusters in the world, supporting more than 200 million ops/sec at sub-millisecond latency with true linear scalability.

Our ideal candidate is a strong individual who loves to work in a diverse team of bright and ambitious people. You should be passionate about technology and be especially interested in distributed computing and high performance. We are looking for a quick learner who is always eager to increase their knowledge and loves taking on new challenges.

If you have these qualities, are fun to work with and want to make an impact whilst contributing to a wildly successful unicorn and centaur, then this is the right role for you.

What you’ll do:

  • Manage and lead the CRDT team. This involves planning, designing, and delivering the team’s core features.
  • Own the team's backlog and define improvements and processes.
  • Recruit and mentor team members. In this aspect you will be responsible for facilitating their growth and development.
  • Work closely with Redis architects, product managers and other R&D teams to define, plan and design the features and projects the team owns.

What will you need to have?

  • At least three years of hands-on C/C++ development experience working on a large-scale production grade system and/or high performance product. Preferably on Linux.
  • At least two years of experience managing software development teams
  • Excellent coding skills with a good understanding of large-scale architecture and design patterns.
  • BSc. in Computer Science or Software Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Self-directed, ambitious, and eager to learn from new experiences.
  • Passionate about technology with a hunger to keep learning about this fast paced industry.

Extra great if you have:

  • Experience designing and implementing distributed systems — a BIG advantage
  • Experience with NoSQL databases (especially Redis)
  • Experience with networking applications and the async programming paradigm
