Redis Labs looks to stretch deployment options with updates from RedisConf17

The 451 Take: Redis’ recent announcements at RedisConf17 play into the maturing adoption trends the company is seeing with Redis. The company announced active-active replication for geographically distributed Redis enterprise deployments. A new data structure called Streams was released that, while available as open source, melds well with Redis’ enterprise offering and sits at the center of an IoT blueprint that functions across devices, edges and the cloud. The idea is that, as an organization’s IoT deployment expands, perhaps globally, enterprise functionality will be needed. While Redis isn’t looking to be a general-purpose database, it is pushing to drive broader adoption and increase deployment options – these enhancements certainly play into that strategy.
